Bed & Bath FAQs
How can I make my small bathroom seem bigger?
This is a common remodeling desire and the quick answer is to uncover
as much floor space as possible. Smaller fixtures, smaller bathtub,
suspended shelving and wall-hung toilets are a good place to start.
If you don’t have a lot of resources, your options are more limited.
Mirrors are an easy way to add depth. Vertical patterns on a wall draw
the eye upward. Use larger tiles in lighter colors.
I don’t have a lot of money or resources – how
can I remodel my ugly bathroom?
There are plenty of ways to make a big change in the bathroom décor
without breaking the bank. Get new towels in different colors and change
the paint color. You could also frame the current mirror with something
custom or vintage. Get a new shower curtain to match or complement the
towels. Updating the medicine cabinet is another thing you can do for
less than $50. Look online for more great remodeling ideas.
I know I want to paint my bedroom a different color, but how
do I figure out which color is the best?
The bedroom is a sanctuary and it can be challenging to pick the correct
scheme. If you’re just repainting the walls, take your cues from
the current carpet and furniture in there. If you’re beginning
from scratch, find a focal point and go from there – it can be
a bed, a desk, a bureau, a painting, a style, anything really. The best
paint colors in the bedroom usually fall into one of three categories:
neutrals (earth tones), browns and greens, or blues. With browns and
greens, avoid bold colors and use sparingly. With blues, stick to relaxing
shades. Avoid the color grey altogether.
